The festival left our deer feeling a little displaced, we are having visits from new families we hadn't seen yet this year. It is quite amazing watching them, they have adapted to life within a growing community. When the moms are traveling with their babies mom cautiously walks up to the street first, she stops, listens, and looks both ways many times before crossing the street. The little ones wait until she is in the middle of the street and then bolt. Usually the males stay away from the moms and babies but there has been one young buck hanging out in our yard and he was actually sharing a branch of apples with a fawn as mom looked on.
I remember to appreciate my encounters with nature after seeing the reactions of visitors to our community over the weekend. People were in awe as they watched the deer, herons & bald eagles that frequent our neighborhood.
